WWE Hall Of Famer Predicts How John Cena’s Final Match Will End
A WWE Hall of Famer who knows John Cena has given his opinion on what should happen in the GOAT’s final match.
The WWE career of John Cena is set to conclude on December 13th when he faces the Last Time Is Now Tournament winner Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, DC.
For most of his career, legendary announcer Michael Cole has been on the call for a lot of Cena’s biggest matches. However, many of those bigger matches were also called by the WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross, who has worked for AEW since it launched in 2019.
Prior to his AEW run, JR was the Voice of WWE from the mid-1990s and remained with the company for most of the next 20 years.
The legendary JR was also running WWE’s Talent Relations when they signed Cena in 2000 and assigned him to OVW with Brock Lesnar, Batista, Randy Orton, Shelton Benjamin, and others in what was arguably the greatest developmental system class ever. By 2002, Cena was on the main roster, and in 2005, he became a WWE Champion for the first of 17 WWE World Title reigns.
Jim Ross Feels John Cena Should Lose His Final WWE Match
While speaking on his Grilling JR podcast prior to Gunther winning the Last Time Is Now tournament, Jim Ross made the point that the 48-year-old Cena should do the job in his final WWE match.
“I think the right thing for business is for him [John Cena] to put somebody over that can help make their career. John is made. He is a made man. He is Tony Soprano. He is a former boss of bosses.
But I think he loses his last match, and the reason I think that is that I think that is what John would want. That’s the kind of guy he is. He will help somebody else move further up the ladder, and what a career he’s had.”
There are a lot of tributes pouring for John Cena as his career as an active WWE superstar ends this week. On social media, Cena reacted to an incredible tribute by Josiah Williams.
I’m not sure I have the words to articulate how grateful I am along with how impressed I am. Your work here as an artist and skill is far beyond anything I’ve ever accomplished. Your words mean more to me than you’ll ever know.
Respect. https://t.co/xx17k5JRNa— John Cena (@JohnCena) December 8, 2025
