WWE Hall Of Famer Believes John Cena Spoke The Truth On Raw
John Cena may be saying that some fans don’t like on WWE television, but one Hall of Famer feels like Cena is speaking the truth.
For the third straight week on WWE Raw in London, John Cena started the show with a promo to further cement his shocking heel turn at Elimination Chamber. This time it felt a little bit different because he exchanged words with his WrestleMania 41 opponent, the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.
There were some harsh words spoken by Cena to Rhodes during the promo exchange. Cena said that Rhodes was a generic mix of every superstar he’s ever loved and it makes him look like a 16-year-old taking acting lessons who is still afraid of public speaking.
Cena also trashed Cody for having his wrestling gimmick tattooed on his neck. Cena said it made Cody look like a common fan like them. Cena told Cody that the last real champion Cena is going to expose Cody for what he is, an “errand boy that got lucky.”
Later in the promo exchange, Cena told Cody that he had to leave WWE (in 2016) because at his best, he couldn’t wipe Cena’s ass. Cena said that he makes empires for billionaires while Cody steals money from their kids, which was a reference to Tony Khan running AEW while being the son of a billionaire Shahid Khan.
John Cena Was Being Honest With Cody Rhodes During WWE Raw Promo Exchange
During the promo exchange, John Cena told Cody Rhodes that Cody stole the blueprint of being a top guy from Cena.
It is something that resonated with WWE Hall of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley, who praised Cena for the line during a recent episode of the Busted Open Radio show that Bubba co-hosts.
“I love that line, because it’s true, and John realizes that. Everything that Cody is doing, John has done before him, uber babyface, shaking hands, kissing babies, being very personable up close with the fans, yada yada.
Doing all of the media, being the first one to the building and the last one to leave, being very interactive with everything that is going on with the company, taking an interest and being invested in your merchandise … he realized that if I ever wanna get to the top of this company, this is the playbook I need to follow.”
At the end of their promo exchange, Cena and Rhodes finally got physical as Rhodes got the upper hand with a Cross Rhodes to drop Cena in the middle of the ring.
