WWE Hall Of Famer Praises “National Treasure” Randy Orton

Randy Orton and Gunther shake hands at WWE Bash In Berlin

A WWE Hall of Famer has praised a recent Randy Orton masterclass.

At Bash In Berlin, Randy Orton stepped into the ring for what was arguably his biggest match since returning from a career-threatening back injury. Faced with Gunther and a chance at winning the World Heavyweight Championship the veteran knew he would be pushed to the limit and that’s exactly how the bout played out.

Both men dialed the physicality up to 11, but in the end, it was Gunther who retained the gold, although Orton gained his respect in the process. The show went off the air following a handshake between the pair in the middle of the ring.

Looking back at the match on his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff made a point of praising Orton, describing his performance as a “masterclass.”

“Randy Orton is a national treasure, that’s what I’ll say. He’s so good, he put on a masterclass in there. He’s the literal definition of less is more. Talk about a guy who knows how to pace a match, who knows how to get the crowd into the match, who knows how to get his opponent over and sells, oh my god, Randy’s ability to sell is so believable.

There aren’t enough appropriate words to describe how impressed I am and how much I respect Randy Orton.”

Eric Bischoff Loved WWE Bash In Berlin Clash

During the same episode, Eric Bischoff was also quick to praise the bout between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens. The match for the Undisputed WWE Title opened the show, and Bischoff was blown away by the performance from Owens in particular who repeatedly teased a heel turn, only to embrace Rhodes after losing out to the American Nightmare.

Bischoff added that while he would have liked to have seen the match in the main event, it ultimately didn’t negatively impact the action or the show as a whole.
