Why WWE Is The Greatest Achievement Of Blake Monroe’s Life
She might be a former AEW Women’s World Champion, but just being in WWE is as good as it gets for Blake Monroe.
On the June 3rd edition of NXT, several members of the roster were in the ring arguing about who should get the first crack at Jacy Jayne’s newly won NXT Women’s Championship. When that ended in a brawl, the lights went out, and when they came back on, former AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May was standing on a perch as she sent a warning to the roster that she’ll be the next NXT Women’s Champion.
Mariah May was quickly renamed Blake Monroe as she took on a character familiarly tinged with old Hollywood glamour. She soon found her first problem in the company as she was attacked by Fatal Influence when she signed her NXT contract in the ring.
Now speaking on a new vlog, Blake Monroe explained just how happy she was to be part of WWE after all these years of thinking she’d never make it there:
I didn’t think I was going to be in WWE and it still doesn’t really feel real to me, and I don’t know if I’m going to share this one because this is so personal — but this is maybe thus far the greatest achievement of my life to be a part of WWE.
Blake Monroe Says WWE Move Happened Quickly
Monroe then explained that she felt dejected at the end of 2024 despite holding the AEW Women’s World Title at the time and claims training again made her fall back in love with wrestling:
I don’t know, I think I felt a little dejected at the end of last year and I didn’t know [WWE] was an option for me. And I started training again — I actually started training at Flatbacks, which is an amazing school. I was training in Atlanta, and I just fell in love with wrestling again.
I fell in love with wrestling again, and I felt like I was back in the game and I wanted to do so much more. And I spoke to my manager and he said ‘I believe in you.’ And I spoke to people around me and they were like ‘I believe in you.’
And I spoke to my parents who were really the big ones, and even my dad said ‘Life isn’t a dress rehearsal you get one go this is your dream since you were a little kid.’ And so everything happened really quickly. And I’m doing it, I am officially a WWE superstar. I’m debuting at NXT tonight.
