WWE Reveal Full King Of The Ring Bracket
The King & Queen of the Ring tournaments kicked off on Raw but they did not escape being hit by injury as two WWE stars were pulled from matches.
Before Raw went on the air, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce announced Drew McIntyre had been pulled from his King of the Ring match against Finn Balor due to injury. Balor thought he would be able to waltz through to the next round on a bye but Pearce informed him that McIntyre had in fact been replaced by Jey Uso.
Damage CTRL revealed on Raw that Asuka was out of the Queen of the Ring tournament due to injury and her spot would be taken by Dakota Kai. Kai then did battle on Raw in Hartford with former NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria in the first round.
16 WWE Stars Battle For The Crown
The King of the Ring tournament has been split into a Raw and SmackDown section meaning that a red brand star will battle one from WWE’s blue brand in Saudi Arabia for the right to be called King of the Ring.
WWE revealed the full bracket for the men’s tournament on Raw Talk after Gunther defeated Sheamus, Ilja Dragunov beat Ricochet, and Jey Uso bested Finn Balor to move on to the next round. They will be joined in the Raw side of the quarter-finals by the winner of the Kofi Kingston vs. Rey Mysterio match which takes place at a WWE live event in the coming week.
The SmackDown first-round matches see AJ Styles take on Randy Orton, Baron Corbin battle Carmelo Hayes, LA Knight face Santos Escobar, and Bobby Lashley go up against Tama Tonga.
The SmackDown side of the Queen of the Ring has not yet been revealed but IYO SKY, Lyra Valkyria, and Zoey Stark have already progressed to the quarter-finals on Raw.
