WWE has made a change in its creative team as it welcomes a former Tough Enough competitor into the company.

WWE has made significant changes behind the scenes since the Endeavor takeover of the company was completed in September 2023. Backstage job losses were significant in the aftermath of that and in the months following several WWE executives have moved on from their roles.

But now WWE has added a new name to its creative team.

WWE Brings in Tough Enough Contestant

Fightful Select has now reported that WWE has hired a new writer who is not a complete stranger to the company. 2011 Tough Enough contestant Eric Watts has joined the SmackDown writing team on a full-time basis.

During his time on Tough Enough, Watts was the seventh contestant eliminated on the season that also featured Cameron, Matt Cross, and Ivelisse. That series was hosted by Stone Cold Steve Austin and featured Bill DeMott, Trish Stratus and Booker T as the trainers.

Eric Watts has never wrestled in WWE but spent 16 years on the independent scene where he was best known as simply Watts. He competed in one match for AEW in 2020 when he appeared on an episode of Dark in a tag team match coming out on the losing side against Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy Jack Perry.

Watts should not be confused with former WCW and WWE star Erik Watts who was the son of the legendary promoter Cowboy Bob Watts.
