WWE Considering First-Time-Ever Story For Money In The Bank

WWE Money In The Bank stage

Something very different could be in the works for WWE’s men’s Money In The Bank holder Austin Theory according to a new report.

Austin Theory won Money In The Bank in July 2022 just three weeks before his apparent biggest fan – Vince McMahon – retired from his position as WWE Chairman.

Theory has carried his briefcase since then and threatened to cash in at SummerSlam when Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns battled Brock Lesnar in a Last Man Standing match. Ultimately The Bloodline was able to stop Theory from achieving his goal of cashing in and unseating Reigns as champion.

At Clash at the Castle, Austin Theory tried again as Reigns battled Drew McIntyre but a massive punch to the face by boxing icon Tyson Fury who was watching from ringside soon put a stop to that.

Many have wondered what Austin Theory might do with Money In The Bank given that Roman Reigns is currently perceived to be undefeatable. There was a clue to where WWE might go with the story when Theory interrupted JD McDonagh, Ilja Dragunov, and Bron Breakker ahead of their NXT Title match at Halloween Havoc but Breakker escaped that event with his title in tow.

A new report from WrestleVotes has suggested that WWE is considering a first-ever story for Theory at this point where he is the first WWE Superstar to wait the full calendar year to attempt to cash in his briefcase:

“There is an idea that he is the first guy to wait a full year, like the day of or let’s say night of Money in the Bank next year. That’s the storyline, like ‘you have to cash this in in two and a half hours. You have to cash this in in 90 minutes.’ That type of thing. I know that idea is on the table.”
