Several WWE Figures Warned Hulk Hogan Would Be Booed On Raw

Hulk Hogan rips his shirt on WWE Raw

The crowd’s reaction to Hulk Hogan on Raw wasn’t a surprise to everyone.

The stars were out for Monday Night Raw on January 6th, but fans were happier to see some of those stars than others. While Triple H, The Rock, John Cena, and The Undertaker were cheered to the rafters during their segments, and the likes of Nikki Garcia and other celebrities warmly greeted when shown in the crowd, the Inuit Dome did not want to see Hulk Hogan.

Appearing alongside Jimmy Hart who arrived with an American flag in hand, Hogan was heavily booed from the moment his music hit. Each line of his following promo was also met with loud disapproval while his attempts at the ever-reliable ‘cheap pop’ were met with jeers.

The negative reaction was subsequently covered by mainstream media outlets such as CNN and Variety, while Pat McAfee later poked fun at the segment.

Hulk Hogan “Surprised And Disappointed”

A new report from Fightful Select has now offered an update on Hogan’s status with WWE and the company’s reaction to the boos that greeted him on Raw.

Many within WWE weren’t happy with the reaction and the fact it was such a big talking point coming out of an important show. But a “number of people” told Fightful they brought up the possibility that he’d get booed.

The segment involving Hogan was limited to just a couple of minutes due to his physical condition, but the star was said to be “surprised and disappointed” by the reaction he received. However, he brushed it off backstage.

A source noted that WWE will likely “consider the context in which Hogan is used moving forward,” but the partnership between Real American Beer and the company is set to continue. One person within WWE noted that they had raised the possibility of using a more modern talent or legend to promote the product.
