WWE Figures “Don’t Care” About WrestleMania Criticism

Triple H WWE Press Conference

WWE is pushing forward.

On March 18, WWE announced the “Roast of WrestleMania” with comedian Tony Hinchcliffe. The event is set to feature appearances from Sami Zayn, The Miz, Braun Strowman, Paul Heyman, and more.

Hinchcliffe has become a controversial figure in recent months after calling Puerto Rico an “island of garbage” at a rally for Donald Trump in October. His speech was littered with other racist tropes and sparked significant backlash as a result.

This backlash continued following the announcement of his new gig during WrestleMania weekend, as fans flooded social media to express their disappointment.

However, it seems the reaction to Hinchcliffe within the company has been very different.

WWE Unmoved By Backlash

During a recent Fightful Select Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp noted that while there were a few eye rolls backstage, the majority of people just don’t care about the criticism. Sapp added that Hinchcliffe already knows several people within the company and they get along.

“Honestly, there were some eye rolls but most people in WWE just don’t care, to be honest with you. And Tony knows a lot of those people in WWE and they get along with them. I haven’t heard the same outrage internally as I have online,”

“The Roast of WrestleMania” is set to take place on April 20 at Fontainebleau Las Vegas following night two of the spectacular.
