Key WWE Figure Set To Undergo Double Knee Surgery
A WWE legend has confirmed they’re preparing for more surgery.
Through the late 1980s and through much of the 1990s, Shawn Michaels was famous for burning the midnight oil, but still performing at an impressively high level. This saw him become one of the biggest stars in the industry, with a string of classic matches behind him.
Although a back injury combined with heavy substance abuse kept him out of the ring from 1998 to 2002, he resumed his career looking as good as ever. The star retired on his own terms for a second time in 2010 before coming back for a one-off in 2018.
Michaels now finds himself guiding the next generation as the head of NXT, but he’s still dealing with the impact of his lengthy, and risk-packed career.
While appearing on the Nightcap show with Shannon Sharpe and Ochocinco, Michaels reflected on his in-ring career and the damage that it had done to his body. Despite the surgeries he’s faced and the physical issues he continues to deal with, when asked if he’d do it all again, the veteran gave a resounding “hell yes.”
The WWE Hall of Famer went on to detail his recent surgeries and confirmed that he’s got another on the way.
“I have had my back fused. I’ve had my shoulder replaced. I got two knees that I’m getting replaced in probably a month. And I wouldn’t change it for anything in the world.
I knew that going in, as you guys did. I knew the price that was going to come along with it.”
Michaels added that when he worked a full-time schedule, he was on the road for 286 days per year, and that dropped to 150 when he eventually dropped to part-time.
Shawn Michaels Won’t Come Out Of WWE Retirement
During the same interview, Shawn Michaels said he won’t be coming out of retirement for a third time. He reiterated that he’s overjoyed to be in the position in now, and has no desire to get back in the ring.
The rumours around Michaels have kicked back into gear in recent days after it was announced that WrestleMania 34 will be held in Saudi Arabia. It was reported in the hours after the news broke that Saudi officials are looking to stack the show with WWE legends.
This has led to further speculation that The Rock is already in talks over an in-ring return that would see him compete in the headline bout of the 2027 event. It’s been claimed that Rock would net the biggest single event payoff in history if the deal is completed.
