A WWE producer remains proud of Drew McIntyre and CM Punk.

For the first ten months of 2024, CM Punk and Drew McIntyre went to war.

McIntyre has made no secret of the fact that he doesn’t like Punk, and that played perfectly into their on-screen feud. The storyline spanned several of WWE’s biggest events before coming to a violent conclusion at Bad Blood inside Hell In A Cell.

The match received universal acclaim, with many crediting the pair for giving the match an old-school feel. Both men put it all on the line, and McIntyre later received 16 staples in a head wound thanks to a shot with a steel toolbox.

CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre Was A “Masterpiece”

During a new interview with Adam Silverstein of the Getting Over podcast, Abyss looked back on his role in producing the acclaimed bloodbath. The producer described the match as a “masterpiece,” while praising Punk and McIntyre for how hard they worked inside the famous cage.

“A couple of things that pop off to me, the Drew McIntyre/CM Punk Hell In A Cell [match] back in October. I just thought it was a masterpiece. Those guys absolutely went out there and just left everything in the ring and I was extremely proud of them and proud of that moment.

I was extremely happy and proud for those two, they poured everything, their heart and soul into that and the preparations leading up to that. Two consistent pros and when you have that, that’s the end result, that’s the product you end up getting.”

Meanwhile, in a different interview, Abyss confirmed that he’s officially retired following speculation that he might be preparing to wrestle again. The TNA legend said that he’s got no plans to wrestle again and is more than happy to continue in his role as a producer.

Abyss wrestled his final match in April 2019.
