WWE Fans Walk Out During Recent Event

WWE fans unhappy

Some WWE fans had little interest in sticking around after CM Punk returned to the ring.

On December 26th, CM Punk wrestled in a WWE ring for the first time in almost a decade. At the company’s traditional Boxing Day event at Madison Square Garden, Punk took on and defeated Dominik Mysterio before telling the crowd that he was just getting started.

In the hours after the show it was reported that the event broke a huge WWE record, becoming the highest-grossing domestic non-televised event in history.

However, it wasn’t quite all smiles for the sports entertainment giant. Reporting in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that those in attendance said a surprising number of fans appeared to leave during the intermission after Punk’s match.

“The show actually was not a sellout, as they had made capacity about 16,300. But they only had 9,000 tickets out when the Punk vs. Mysterio match was announced. And live reports were that a surprising amount of fans left at intermission after Punk’s match, not staying for the Cody Rhodes vs. Shinsuke Nakamura bullrope match and Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre world title match.”
