Why Some WWE Fans Feared Injury Disaster In Penta’s Raw Debut
Penta is finally a WWE Superstar.
On the January 13th edition of Monday Night Raw, Penta finally made his WWE debut after months of speculation.
In the first match on the show, the former AEW star saw off Chad Gable before cutting a promo to declare the dawning of a new era as his family, including his two children, watched on from ringside.
Following the show it was reported that Penta’s big debut upset several Superstars as his match and promo ran long. This caused other segments later in the episode to be trimmed down, something that didn’t go down especially well. Despite this, WWE management was more than happy with how everything played out.
During the match, WWE’s latest signing was heavily selling his leg, and did such a good job some fans worried he might be genuinely injured. However, Mike Johnson of PWInsider noted that the star is just fine.
Rey Fenix Pays Tribute To Penta
Following Raw, Rey Fenix took to social media to tell the world how proud he was of his brother and his performance.
Congratulations bro Without a doubt MY FAVORITE FIGHTER! You deserve all the best for all you’ve worked for, the #1 FIGHTER. I am very proud to be your brother and see how you have achieved all your dreams, I LOVE YOU and [Zero] FEAR. (translation by Google)
In his own post on social media, Chad Gable said that while he detests “Penta, Luchadores and losing” the match was everything he loved about pro wrestling. Gable said he felt alive, describing the match as a “beautiful artistic expression of physicality.”
