Why WWE Hall Of Famer Never Got In Trouble For Smoking Weed With Snoop Dogg
A WWE Hall of Famer recently revealed smoking weed with rapper Snoop Dogg backstage.
The Godfather had multiple stints with the Stamford promotion, but found major success only after transitioning into a pimp in 1998, who was surrounded by beautiful women, whom he referred to as his ‘hos.’
He also competed in several mid-card matches, winning the Intercontinental Championship once in the process.
The Godfather, real name Charles Wright, is also known for his friendship backstage with The Undertaker. Their tight-knit circle also included Rikishi, Yokozuna, and Savio Vega.
During a recent appearance on WrestlingNewsCo’s “The Velvet Ropes” podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer was asked about a story about him involving Snoop Dogg, where they smoked weed together.
However, despite the company’s strict regulations surrounding narcotics usage, he was never penalized.
Someone comes to me and says, ‘Hey Godfather, you got any weed? Snoop’s in a bad mood…’ I roll up some blunts… we’re down there just blazing up in the room [at the Rosemont in Chicago]… I bust out the door. Who’s there? There’s Vince, there’s Linda, there’s Stephanie… Bruce Prichard… They’re all just looking at me. I said, ‘Hey, don’t look at me, you guys are the ones who brought Snoop Dogg here.’ I just kept walking. The funny thing about it, I swear to you, I never heard one thing from anybody about that.”
The Godfather Reveals His WWE Hall Of Fame Speech Regret
The Godfather was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2016. Other than winning the Intercontinental Championship, he was also a one-time Tag Team Champion with Bull Buchanan.
On the podcast, the 64-year-old discussed a regret he had with his Hall of Fame speech, which involved not mentioning his wife, who incidentally was the brains behind his Godfather persona.
My high ass gets up there having fun, not writing anything down… I went through the whole thing… As soon as I got off stage, I went, ‘Did I mention my wife?’ Dude, I went into panic mode. I did not mention my wife’s name in my Hall of Fame speech… She’s wife number three, we’ve been married 25 years… I feel so bad.
