WWE Planning Extra Long SummerSlam Countdown Shows

Triple H WWE SummerSlam

The biggest edition of WWE SummerSlam will also have long Countdown shows to get fans ready for the summer spectacular.

For the first time ever, WWE SummerSlam will take place over two nights on Saturday, August 2nd, and Sunday, August 3rd at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

While the last six WrestleManias have been two nights, dating back to the first one in 2020, no other WWE PLE has adopted the two-night strategy until now.

With SummerSlam week here, more details about WWE’s plans have emerged, including those for the pre-show. It has been reported by TC of Wrestlevotes that there will be three-hour pre-shows for both nights of SummerSlam. Since the main shows start at 6 p.m. ET, the Countdown shows will begin at 3 p.m. ET on WWE’s YouTube channel.

There will be SIX HOURS of pre-show content before #SummerSlam this weekend đź‘€

Saturday and Sunday will both have “Countdown to SummerSlam” shows beginning at 3pm EST ahead of the advertised 6pm EST start time.

There are also WWE PLE post-shows after the main PLE shows air.

The Lineup For WWE SummerSlam Featuring All Title Matches On Sunday Night

A video was released by WWE over the weekend, announcing the matches scheduled for each night.

Saturday, August 2nd Matches:

  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships – Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez (c) vs. Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss
  • World Heavyweight Championship: Gunther (c) vs. CM Punk
  • Randy Orton & Jelly Roll vs. Drew McIntyre & Logan Paul
  • Roman Reigns & Jey Uso vs. Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed
  • WWE Women’s Championship: Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Jade Cargill
  • Sami Zayn vs. Karrion Kross

They did not announce which match would be the main event, but the Gunther/CM Punk match is a contender, and so is the Roman Reigns/Jey Uso tag match against Bron Breakker/Bronson Reed, since Reigns has main evented many matches.

Sunday, August 3rd Matches

  • Intercontinental Championship: Dominik Mysterio (c) vs. AJ Styles
  • WWE Championship Street Fight: John Cena (c) vs. Cody Rhodes
  • United States Championship Steel Cage Match: Solo Sikoa (c) vs. Jacob Fatu
  • Women’s Intercontinental Championship (No Countouts, No Disqualifications): Becky Lynch (c) vs. Lyra Valkyria
  • Women’s World Championship: Naomi (c) vs. Iyo Sky vs. Rhea Ripley

The Cena/Rhodes match will likely main event the show in what will be Cena’s final SummerSlam match.

There is also a 6-team TLC match for the WWE Tag Team Titles scheduled for SummerSlam: WWE Tag Team Championships TLC Match: Wyatt Sicks vs. Motor City Machine Guns vs. The Street Profits vs. #DIY vs. Andrade & Rey Fenix vs. Fraxiom.

No date has been assigned for the TLC match yet, but since Saturday has six officially scheduled matches and Sunday has five, it makes sense to schedule it for Sunday.

You can watch SummerSlam on Saturday, August 2, and Sunday, August 3, streaming live at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT on Peacock in the United States and on Netflix everywhere else.
