WWE Star Explodes After Submitting Champion: “GIVE ME MY F**KING TITLE”

A WWE superstar wants a championship that they felt was earned in the ring.

The idea of open challenges in WWE is to tease the element of surprise. It’s a way of showing the audience that a champion is willing to defend their title against anyone, while the fans watching the show don’t know who it is either.

John Cena popularized the open challenge about a decade ago as the US Champion on Raw. That tradition continued this year when Sami Zayn was the US Champion, and now the current champion, Ilja Dragunov, is carrying on the tradition on SmackDown.

Usually, the open challenge is a thing for babyfaces, but the heel NXT Women’s North American Champion, Blake Monroe, wanted to give it a try on WWE NXT as well.

During a promo in the ring, Monroe claimed that other women in NXT look up to her. Monroe said she wants to give back for the holiday season, and who doesn’t want some glamour in their lives? Monroe said she wanted to do an open challenge, and NXT GM Ava agreed, so let’s see who wants a title match?

Several women from the locker room made their entrance, but the referees held them back. Thea Hail went into the ring, applied the Kimura Lock on Monroe, and Blake tapped out. There was no referee in the ring, and the bell never rang. The open challenge never got started.

Thea Hail Wants Her First WWE Singles Title

Earlier on NXT, Thea Hail was advising Jordynne Grace after losing a match. Grace wondered why a 16-year-old was giving her advice. Hail said she’s 22 and has been there since she was 18, so she’s a grizzled veteran now. Whether others agree with that is up to them, but clearly Hail believes in herself.

On social media, the usually hyper Thea Hail posted emphatically that she wants the NXT Women’s North American Title since she made Monroe tap out.

Unfortunately for Hail, she won’t be awarded the title, as there was no referee present for the match.

Later in the show, NXT GM Ava announced that on the December 16th episode of NXT, Blake Monroe will defend the NXT Women’s North American Title against Thea Hail, who has yet to win a championship on the brand.
