WWE Expects Star To Stay Despite AEW Interest

Triple H WWE Tony Khan AEW

It seems one WWE star won’t be going anywhere.

Despite enjoying the best spell of his WWE career, there’s been huge speculation Chad Gable could leave the company. Gable’s contract was set to expire on June 7th, and it was reported at the time, no deal had been signed.

However, the star has remained a key part of the company’s plans and will challenge Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Title at Clash at the Castle.

On June 10th it was reported Chad Gable either had signed or was very close to signing a new contract, although there wasn’t official confirmation.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that Gable is expected to stay put, despite heavy AEW interest.

WWE is of the belief Chad Gable will be staying. He’s getting the biggest push of his career right now and has become a real highlight of the Raw show. As noted, there were people in AEW pushing for him. FTR, who had some of their best matches with Gable & Jason Jordan years ago in the program that really made both teams in NXT, have always pushed for him in AEW, but he got a great offer to sign a new deal.

WWE Makes Chad Gable “Excellent” Offer To Stay

Just prior to the expiry of his contract it was reported WWE had made an “excellent offer” to Chad Gable in an effort to keep him away from AEW. Several reports confirmed Gable would be in high demand should he become a free agent, with multiple companies holding an interest in securing his signature.

Gable signed with WWE in 2013 after a standout career as an amateur wrestler, which included competing at the 2012 Olympics in London.
