WWE Expected To Re-Sign Two Former Superstars
Two stars look increasingly likely to return to WWE.
On February 11, Ricky Starks shocked the world when he made a surprise appearance on NXT. It was quickly confirmed that the star had signed with WWE, just 24 hours after news broke he’d been released by AEW.
Released alongside Starks were Miro and Malakai Black, who have both also been linked with moves to the sports entertainment giant.
Black originally signed with WWE in 2016 and won the NXT Championship before wrestling on both Raw and SmackDown. The Dutch star was ultimately released in 2021, and he quickly put pen to paper with AEW.
Miro, who was known as Rusev during this period, signed in 2010 and appeared in Florida Championship Wrestling and later NXT before moving to the main roster permanently in 2014. The star enjoyed mid-card success alongside valet Lana before being let go in 2020.
WWE Adding Two More Names
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer claimed that both Malakai Black and Miro are heading to WWE. He also speculated that Miro could be joined by his regular valet CJ Perry.
It should be noted that while Perry and Miro had been married for much of their time in WWE, the couple separated in 2023.
The belief is that Black and Miro will also be in WWE very soon. It wouldn’t surprise me to see CJ Perry back involved with him but that’s less of a definite. Those in WWE had said creative had been talking about Black and Miro.
Meltzer originally noted back in January that WWE creative was expecting Black to return to the company soon.
Meanwhile, a different report has claimed that Rey Fenix is in talks with Tony Khan about his own AEW exit. It’s believed that a resolution is expected soon after Khan was told by those close to him to “put an end to this.”
Fenix’s brother and tag team partner Penta signed with WWE back in January, debuting with a victory on Raw over Chad Gable.
