WWE Executives Worried About Ex-Champion After Scary Raw Bump
WWE executives were left more than a little concerned after a former World Heavyweight Champion took a stiff bump on Raw.
When Raw headed to Madison Square Garden for Raw, few could have predicted just what a newsworthy show would play out. Former World Heavyweight Champion Gunther returned to the ring for the first time since SummerSlam to defeat NXT’s Je’Von Evans in the Last Time Is Now tournament.
The winner of that tournament will go on to face John Cena in his final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13th. The other match in that tournament on Raw saw Solo Sikoa face a mystery opponent. That opponent turned out to be another former World Heavyweight Champion as Dolph Ziggler made his shock return to the company.
Dolph Ziggler built a career of making his opponents look like megastars, and he was at his best as he threw himself around for Sikoa.
Dolph Ziggler Sparked Concern Backstage At WWE Raw
Speaking on Off The Ropes, Dolph Ziggler noted that his sternum-first bump into the turnbuckle had people behind the scenes concerned about his well-being:
I even took a hard Bret Hart buckle in the corner that I had people in the back going, ‘Are you okay?’ And I go, ‘That’s the reason I do this.’ [h/t Fightful]
John Cena competed in his final Raw match on the show as he teamed with Sheamus and Rey Mysterio to defeat The Judgment Day.
The WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship changed hands as AJ Lee shocked Becky Lynch to help Maxxine Dupri win the gold.
