R-Truth has enjoyed multiple stints with WWE, his first between 1999 and 2001. During this period, he appeared under the name K-Kwik and was seen competing alongside Road Dogg in tag team matches.
His second stint has been the longest, spanning from 2008 to the present.
Despite the announcement, R-Truth, real name Ron Killings, will leave only after his contract expires.
The former United States Champion earned praise for his comic timing and gigs involving “Little Jimmy,” as well as his admiration for John Cena, whom he considers his “childhood hero.”
Top WWE Executive Reacts to R-Truth’s Departure
Former WWE tag team champion, Road Dogg, who holds an executive position in the company, reacted to Truth’s departure announcement.
Having held the NWA tag team gold with Killings, he said that he was heartbroken, but commended Truth for his run within the company.
I am heartbroken. It’s the nature of the beast; the part of business that no one likes but the bean counters. I love Ron the Truth Killings and I don’t care who knows it. WHAT A RUN!
