WWE Executive Recalls How Edge & Vickie Guerrero Felt About Romance Storyline

Neither Edge nor Vickie Guerrero had any reservations about their on-screen romance or anything it entailed.

Many years ago, Edge aligned himself with then-SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero. She embraced her role as the evil authority figure but then went a step further.

She and Edge were portrayed as lovers, complete with on-screen displays of affection. Their alliance grew to include Chavo Guerrero, Curt Hawkins, Zack Ryder, and Bam Kneely, and collectively they were known as LA Familia.

But despite so many faces, most attention was on Edge and Vickie. And to make sure that those two always got the most heat, they were instructed to commit as much to their on-screen romance as possible.

Speaking on his Something To Wrestle With podcast, WWE Executive Bruce Pritchard explained how devoted Edge and Vickie were to this long-term storyline.

“As we’re sitting in the office there, we’re trying to think of what to do, and I’m staring at them. And I’m like, ‘the only way people are gonna believe this is if they see it and they need to go for it man.

There needs to be some passion here. So, if you’re ever gonna, you know, do anything, and I pulled Edge off by himself, pulled Vickie off by herself, and I asked them how they felt about it. They were both like, ‘yeah, sure. Whatever we need to do,.’

Pritchard went on to describe both of them as “over the moon” after shooting a live segment to kick this angle off.
