Bray Wyatt made his stunning return to WWE at Extreme Rules but even an executive in the company didn’t know the star was on his way back.
Wyatt’s return to WWE had been somewhat expected as many linked the former WWE Champion with the ‘white rabbit’ teases that had been seen for weeks on Raw and SmackDown.
Following the main event which saw Matt Riddle defeat Seth Rollins in the Fight Pit at Extreme Rules, the lights went out and the crowd was treated to a rendition of ‘He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands.’ Members of the Firefly Funhouse were scattered among the crowd and eventually, Bray Wyatt himself burst through a door on the entranceway telling the world that he was here.
Speaking on his Oh You Didn’t Know podcast – courtesy of AdFreeShows.com – WWE’s Senior Vice President of Live Events Road Dogg claims that he didn’t know Bray Wyatt was returning:
“It was done so well and it was just a visual roller coaster ride. I am not in those inner circles anymore that talk about creative, so I honestly did not know he was coming back. I love it. I love not knowing. There is something very liberating about being ignorant … Not knowing everything is cool sometimes, because then you get surprised and so, I think that’s the age-old argument about spoilers.”
