WWE Embarrassed By Bizarre Becky Lynch Promo
WWE has been left embarrassed by Becky Lynch’s Raw promo that created a significant backlash against her and the company.
The August 25th edition of Raw was held in Birmingham, England, with a show that ended in absolute chaos as the three challengers for Seth Rollins all turned on each other before the huge four-way match at Clash In Paris for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Earlier in the show, WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch came face-to-face with Nikki Bella, setting up a match between those two in Paris.
During the promo exchange, Becky Lynch took an unwarranted shot at the late Ozzy Osbourne, who hailed from Birmingham and passed away a few weeks ago, just days after his final ever concert in his beloved home city. And it’s safe to say, Lynch’s words fell flat.
WWE Considering Apology After Becky Lynch Promo
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez shed some light on the backstage reaction to the situation and noted the company was left embarrassed and is considering issuing an apology to Osbourne’s family, who also weren’t happy:
The crowd here just died. They did not want to hear about Ozzy; they did not want his death used for cheap pro wrestling heat. I don’t know what reaction they thought it was gonna get; maybe they thought people would boo her out of the building. It just killed the crowd.
Then the next day, Kelly Osbourne went on her Instagram Stories and she wrote, “You’re a disrespectful dirtbag. Birmingham wouldn’t pee on you if you were on fire. Birmingham forever. Shame on WWE for allowing such shameful things to be said about my father and his home.”
I can tell you this was not like they called her and they’re doing something together. Kelly is not happy and I was told WWE is embarrassed and they’re probably gonna do an apology. They may not, if you look back at how many times WWE has apologised for something, it ain’t many. And there’s discussion about doing a public apology, I know they’ve talked about doing a private apology.
