WWE Drops Multiple Cody Rhodes Teases On Raw

Cody Rhodes in WWE

Following Cody Rhodes’ surprise departure from AEW, there were numerous teases on Raw implying that ‘The American Nightmare’ is set to return to WWE.

Earlier this month, Cody Rhodes and his wife Brandi’s decision to leave AEW Shocked the wrestling world. As well as their on-screen roles, Cody Rhodes was an EVP within the company while Brandi was their Chief Brand Officer.

Since then, there have been multiple reports suggesting that Cody could be preparing to make a comeback to WWE after he left the company in 2016 before going on to be a key figure in the creation of All Elite Wrestling.

Taking advantage of the rumours, several WWE Superstars teased the possibility of an imminent WWE return for Rhodes. The Miz hinted that the three-time TNT Champion would be his tag team partner for his clash with The Mysterios, hinting at the ‘Dashing’ Cody Rhodes persona he used before his original departure from WWE.

“I have found a new tag partner going into WrestleMania. Someone I can relate to, someone I can trust, someone from a fighting family. He’s very dashing! Someone who is an athlete and a celebrity.”

In the end, though, The Miz instead announced Logan Paul as his partner before the two took out Rey and Dominik Mysterio.

WWE Hall Of Famer Edge also seemed to make reference to Rhodes when he issued an open challenge to the WWE locker room for a match at WrestleMania 38. Edge stated that he wanted to face someone “undeniable” which could be another reference to Rhodes who has often said he went from “undesirable to undeniable” on his path from WWE to helping build a wrestling empire.

However, Edge also referenced facing someone “phenomenal,” someone with an “inner demon” and promised to help whoever he faced to “live forever.” These have been taken as references to AJ Styles, Finn Balor, and Damian Priest.
