WWE Drops Big Cody Rhodes Hint
Cody Rhodes is on his way back to WWE television.
At WrestleMania 41, Cody Rhodes suffered the most high-profile and perhaps most crushing defeat of his career.
Rhodes walked into the main event as the Undisputed WWE Champion, but he walked out with an unwanted piece of history. Rhodes will now forever be remembered as the man who John Cena pinned to become World Champion for a record 17th time.
Rhodes appeared to be closing on victory until Travis Scott made his presence felt. Although the American Nightmare managed to hit Scott with a Cross Rhodes, the Hip Hop star later pulled the referee out of the ring as the champion looked to retain his title.
However, Rhodes’ desire to do the right thing proved to be his downfall as he refused to hit Cena with the title belt. This allowed Cena to land a low blow and his own shot with the belt to snatch the win.
Rhodes was last seen heading back to his tour bus with wife Brandi after turning down a backstage interview.
When Will Cody Rhodes Be Back With WWE?
Cody Rhodes hasn’t appeared on WWE TV since that defeat to Cena, but it seems a comeback isn’t too far away.
The American Nightmare is now being advertised for SmackDown on May 16, the first episode of the show after Backlash six days earlier. On WWE’s website, Rhodes is the only Superstar on the graphic, while he’s also listed as a “featured Superstar” for the taping.
While away from television, Rhodes has been spotted out and about spending his well-earned break with his family.
At Backlash, John Cena will defend the Undisputed WWE Title against Randy Orton.
