WWE Announces Discipline For Gunther After Violent Raw Attack

Gunther will be facing disciplinary action for his heinous attack on WWE Monday Night Raw, according to GM Adam Pearce.

Jey Uso beat Gunther to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania 41 on Saturday in Las Vegas. Surprisingly, Jey used some of Gunther’s own moves against him, and Jey made Gunther tap out in a sleeper hold and left with the gold.

On the Raw After Mania from Las Vegas, an angry Gunther appeared at ringside to get in the face of announcers Michael Cole and Pat McAfee. Gunther wasn’t happy about his WrestleMania, so he tried to choke out Michael Cole.

Pat McAfee came to Cole’s defense since Pat has wrestled in the WWE in the past and is a former NFL punter. McAfee even punched Gunther in the face. That ended up being a mistake since Gunther put a sleeper on McAfee and tried to choke him out for nearly two minutes. Eventually, it was broken up, but McAfee was forced to leave Raw that night and get medical attention.

Adam Pearce Suspends Gunther

In a video posted by WWE on social media, Raw’s General Manager Adam Pearce announced that Gunther has been fined an undisclosed amount and will be suspended indefinitely.

“Good afternoon. By now everybody has seen what happened on Monday between Gunther, Michael Cole and Pat McAfee. First things first, Pat and Cole are okay. Pat is in Green Bay covering the NFL Draft and Cole’s doing what he always does – preparing for Monday Night Raw in a Hall of Fame way.

As for you, Gunther, your actions were reprehensible and disgusting. You will never again put your hands on a member of my announce team because there ain’t no heat in beating up an announcer. You’re frustrated because you lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Jey Uso and I get that, but if you want to blame somebody, then park yourself in front of a mirror and ask the person staring back at you.

After conferring with the representation of all three men, Gunther has been fined an undisclosed amount and suspended indefinitely.

Pat and Cole will be on Raw this Monday live in Kansas City, 8 eastern, 5 pacific on Netflix. Thank you for your time.”

Before his WrestleMania loss, Gunther held the World Heavyweight Title for 258 days. While that is impressive, his record-breaking reign as the Intercontinental Champion was 666 days.
