WWE Figure Was “Denied Permission” To Attend Ric Flair’s Last Match
A long-time WWE figure was unable to attend Ric Flair’s last match.
On July 31, 2022, Ric Flair wrestled his last match at a special event in conjunction with Jim Crockett Promotions. In the main event of a card featuring Jacob Fatu, The Briscoes, the Motor City Machine Guns, Josh Alexander, Jordynne Grace, and more, Flair teamed with Andrade to beat Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett.
During the match, Flair bled buckets and had fans fearing for his health before finally grabbing the win.
In the years since, Ric Flair has occasionally hinted that he’d be open to wrestling again, only to quickly dismiss the notion of a comeback.
WWE Referee Missed Ric Flair’s Last Match
The crowd for Flair’s final match was stacked with legends from across the wrestling world, with the likes of The Undertaker, Bret Hart, Mick Foley, and more all seated at ringside. However, the event came and went without “Little Naitch” Charles Robinson.
The legendary referee worked with Flair in WCW and WWE, and worked as the in-ring official when Flair “retired” at WrestleMania 24 after losing to Shawn Michaels.
During a new interview with Chris Van Vliet, Robinson revealed that he was denied permission to attend Flair’s ultimate final match.
“Ric, in his defense, he had to do what he had to do. He had to do another match. I had no problem with that. This is a hard business. I never want to step away from this business. Stepping away is a hard thing to do.
When he did his other retirement match in Nashville, I think Mike Chioda did that. He got bumped, and everyone was like, ‘Where is Charles? He’s going to run down the ramp.’ I was denied permission to go, which I should’ve been.”
Charles Robinson was recently back in the spotlight after being injured by Goldberg during the star’s final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Except, he wasn’t really injured. Robinson said that he shared a fake x-ray of a broken rib to try and get more heat on Goldberg after he was acidentally speared during the match.
