WWE Delaying Two Major Matches Until SummerSlam
WWE has pumped the breaks on two big matches.
Following his victory over AJ Styles at Clash at the Castle, Cody Rhodes was attacked by The Bloodline, until Randy Orton and Kevin Owens ran in to make the save. The attack appeared to be laying the groundwork for a huge clash between Rhodes and Solo Sikoa who has assumed control of The Bloodline. But while that seems to be the case, fans will have to wait to see the pair go one-on-one.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted the match is being held back until SummerSlam. Meltzer added that WWE is doing the same with the long-expected singles match between LA Knight and Logan Paul for the United States Title.
Regarding Rhodes vs. Sikoa and Paul vs. Knight, as things stand this week, bot of those matches are earmarked for SummerSlam and not Money in the Bank.
Money in the Bank is set to take place on July 3rd before SummerSlam comes live from Cleveland on August 3rd.
Chad Gable Removed From WWE Money In The Bank Qualifying
Meanwhile, it’s been announced that Chad Gable won’t be challenging for the men’s Money in the Bank briefcase. The star had been due to face Braun Strowman and Bronson Reed in a qualifying match for Money in the Bank on June 24th, but he’s been replaced by Ilja Dragunov.
Gable ended the June 17th edition of Raw a bloody mess following the destructive debut of the Wyatt Sicks.
On SmackDown, Randy Orton, Tama Tonga, and Carmelo Hayes will meet in one qualifying match, while Kevin Owens, Grayson Waller, and Andrade will do battle in the second.
