Why WWE Decided To Pull WrestleMania 42 From New Orleans
There were two key reasons why WWE has taken WrestleMania 42 away from New Orleans.
Back in February, The Rock announced that in 2026, WrestleMania would be held in New Orleans. The announcement was accompanied by typical WWE fanfare, while fans and the rest of the industry began making plans for what promised to be a huge week of events.
However, on May 22, it was reported that WWE had reversed this decision and WrestleMania will now take place elsewhere.
According to the most recent report on the subject, the showpiece event will now return to Las Vegas for a second consecutive year. Even if the late change has caused frustration to many within the wrestling industry.
Money Played A Key Role In WWE Change
Reporting in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer cited two factors for the late change. He suggested that it came down to the event having the potential to make more money in Las Vegas, and the fact that so many TKO Executives are based in the area.
The decision was made partially because his year’s WrestleMania made so much money overall in Las Vegas from all sources that they could not make that level of money in New Orleans. The other is that the company loved having it in Las Vegas, because key TKO executives live there and are there and Nick Khan grew up there.
Meltzer added that WWE’s new strategy moving forward will be to hold WrestleMania in Las Vegas on a regular basis.
There’s yet to be an official comment from WWE on the future of the event.
