WWE Reportedly Sets Date for John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar Clash

Brock Lesnar WWE

WWE has seemingly named the date that Brock Lesnar will get back in the ring to clash with John Cena.

Brock Lesnar made his shock return to WWE at SummerSlam, attacking John Cena just moments after Cena had lost the WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes. Lesnar’s return caused a stir with fans as he was named 44 times in the ongoing sexual abuse lawsuit filed against disgraced former WWE chairman Vince McMahon.

Despite the backlash, it seems WWE is pressing ahead with its desire to have The Beast Incarnate back in the ring. The company has already revealed that John Cena will headline its new event on September 20th, but there’s no prize for guessing who Cena’s opponent will be.

Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena In September

PWInsider has reported that the September 20th show will see John Cena take on Brock Lesnar, but that is not all. The report also notes that Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes will defend his title against Drew McIntyre after the Scottish Warrior recently attacked Rhodes.

Neither of these matches has been confirmed by WWE, but a press release touting the event noted that Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch, CM Punk and Drew McIntyre will be in major matches.

That means that Rhodes and Punk will be part of a card going head-to-head with their former company, as Wrestlepalooza will take place on the same day as AEW All Out in Toronto.
