WWE Creative Issues Stem From Massaging Egos Says Current Star

Triple H WWE

WWE star Natalya has spoken about the work the company’s creative teams do and admits many of their issues stem from dealing with the WWE Superstars themselves.

In sports, it’s often the case that if the players play well they get the credit but if they don’t then it’s the coach that gets the blame. In the world of WWE, the players are the stars of the company while the coach role is the creative team writing the storylines that play out on TV.

For every Sami Zayn slamming a chair into Roman Reigns, there is a Cody Rhodes giving up his WrestleMania match with Roman Reigns only to claim it back days later. In short, being a writer for the company can be a thankless task with many masters to please.

Natalya Speaks Candidly About WWE Creative

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Natalya explained the challenges writers face in WWE and admits that a lot of those can come from WWE Superstars who want to be the centre of attention:

TJ (Wilson, Natalya’s husband) is a producer in WWE, but he works closely with the writers. He works closely behind the scenes. He’s like, ‘You never know when somebody’s injured or somebody gets Covid or somebody’s working through a situation.’

“I think the writers have such a challenging job because there’s so many people that you’re trying to please. I will be honest, at times, there’s a lot of massaging of egos because everybody wants to be the best.

Natalya also hinted that she’s got big things planned for her own future that don’t involve competing in the ring:

For me, I have a lot of really fun things that are coming up that do involve writing and involve creating and involve me celebrating my career and celebrating everything that I’ve accomplished.

WWE appears to have signed an independent wrestling talent to its writing staff with the newcomer set for a role behind the scenes on SmackDown.
