WWE stopped using a wrestling couple in political gimmicks once Donald Trump became the United States President.

CJ Perry recently revealed the details during an interview on TMZ’s Inside The Ring.

During her stint in the Stamford promotion, Perry performed as Lana, an anti-American, Russophilic individual, managing Rusev (Miro).

The 40-year-old revealed that Vince McMahon wrote her parts of the promo, joking he may have used her as a puppet to reveal his true feelings about America.

However, once Donald Trump became the U.S. President, their gimmick was altered.

Vince wrote my promos. Like, the Russian stuff, he was absolutely hands-on writing everything. I think he was using me as his puppet to talk about America because once Trump became President, he sat me and Miro down; he’s like, “No more politics.” Yeah, he was like it’s too polarizing and controversial.

Donald Trump Expected To Attend WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event In December

In the early 2000s, Donald Trump was featured in a WWE storyline, which pitted him against Vince McMahon. The story went on to be known as “Battle of the Billionaires.”

The feud ended with Vince McMahon losing the match and getting his head shaved at WrestleMania 23.

Six years later, Trump was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by McMahon.

With John Cena scheduled to wrestle his final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13, reports suggest that the United States President will be in attendance.

While no report has officially confirmed the news, speculations have traveled back and forth.
