WWE Could Be Done With Peacock Before 2026
WWE is heading to ESPN but could that move be happening a lot sooner than expected?
It was announced on August 6th that WWE’s premium live events will have a new home in the United States in early 2026. ESPN will pay WWE $1.6 billion over five years, which is $325 million annually, to air WrestleMania, SummerSlam, Royal Rumble, and the other annual PLEs that WWE produces every year.
WWE is poised to announce a special PLE that will go head-to-head with AEW All Out on September 20th. It seems the sports entertainment giant is set to resurrect a former ECW PPV name for that event. Now Mike Johnson of PWInsider has reported that the September PLE could be a “unique event” that will air on ESPN as a preview of the content that is coming to its streaming service.
But could the days of WWE on Peacock be over already?
WWE Could Be Making Early Switch To ESPN
Speaking about the situation on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez noted that he
I’m hearing that we may have ESPN going forward, starting with that September show.
Dave Meltzer noted that Peacock still have the streaming rights until March 2026, but Alvarez noted that WWE could possibly have already completed their commitment with them:
They do, and I don’t know this 100% but I was given the impression that the way it worked with Peacock was they were contracted to x number of events. And they’ve added events because there’s now a second night of WrestleMania, or there’s a second night of SummerSlam, they added the Evolution show, so they may have met the quota.
Brock Lesnar is expected to face John Cena at the September event in what would be Lesnar’s first WWE match in over two years.
