WWE Considering Big Changes For WrestleMania 42 Week
WrestleMania 41 is now in the books and it seems WWE might be learning from the experience to make changes for WrestleMania 42 and the week of shows that go with it.
WrestleMania has long ceased to be just a one-night affair. Beginning in 2020, it became a two-night show, and in 2025, the festivities also saw SmackDown, the Hall of Fame ceremony, NXT Stand & Deliver, Raw, and NXT take place on consecutive nights in Las Vegas.
It’s perhaps no wonder that some fans might have been suffering from wrestling fatigue, especially if they also tried to take in one of the dozens of independent shows also taking place over WrestleMania week.
WWE Schedule Change For WrestleMania 42?
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez noted WWE may be making changes for WrestleMania 42 that will see NXT back in the Performance Center:
It did not go unnoticed by WWE. It appears that next year when they do WrestleMania in New Orleans, it’s probably not gonna last through NXT. NXT’s probably gonna be back at the Performance Center. There is some thought of running the NXT before WrestleMania weekend in New Orleans.
The Rock announced WrestleMania 42 will take place in New Orleans on April 11 and 12, 2026. The show will emanate from the Caesars Superdome, a venue that has hosted WWE’s showpiece event before.
The first WrestleMania wasn’t held in New Orleans until 2014’s event, and WWE returned to the city in 2018 as well. New Orleans played host to Daniel Bryan overcoming all the odds and becoming the WWE World Heavyweight Champion in 2014. That night also proved historic as it was the same night that Brock Lesnar shocked the world and ended The Undertaker’s Streak.
2018’s effort is not so fondly remembered and was headlined by Brock Lesnar defeating Roman Reigns to retain the WWE Universal Championship. That show also saw a nine-year-old boy win the Raw Tag Team Championship with Braun Strowman.
