WWE Confirms Date Of NXT PLE On Same Day As Massive AEW Event

There will be a WWE NXT PLE on the same day as the next AEW PPV.

The biggest show of the year in AEW was All In Texas on July 12th. On the same day, WWE ran the NXT Great American Bash PLE against it, along with a Saturday Night’s Main Event special.

AEW All In Texas started the main show at 3 p.m. ET and ran for six hours until 9 p.m. ET, which means it ended about halfway through the Saturday Night’s Event TV show on NBC.

Many wrestling fans dislike that major shows are taking place simultaneously and often blame WWE for choosing to counterprogram AEW. This past weekend wasn’t the first time, and it won’t be the last time. It’s not like WWE has to counterprogram AEW, but they like doing it.

During the NXT Great American Bash broadcast, it was officially announced that the Heatwave PLE will take place on Sunday, August 24th in Lowell, Massachusetts.

WWE Heatwave Is On The Same Day As AEW-NJPW Forbidden Door

What’s interesting about the date is that AEW-NJPW Forbidden Door will take place on Sunday, August 24th at the O2 Arena in London, England. Due to time differences, the two shows may not air at the same time, but this depends on the length of the AEW show. Forbidden Door is in England, so it’s five hours ahead of the Eastern Time Zone in Massachusetts.

Regarding Heatwave, WWE also issued a press release.

July 14, 2025 – WWE today announced that Heatwave will take place Sunday, August 24 at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium in Lowell, Massachusetts. This marks the first Premium Live Event to be held in Lowell since Battlegroundin May 2023.

Tickets will go on sale starting Wednesday, July 16 at 10am ET/7am PT via Ticketmaster.com. Fans can purchase tickets during an exclusive presale by visiting Ticketmaster.com and using the code NXTTIX starting Tuesday, July 15 at 10am ET/7am PT until 11:59pm ET/8:59pm PT.

Heatwave will feature the biggest Superstars from NXT in action, including NXT Champion Oba Femi, NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne, NXT North American Champion Ethan Page, NXT Women’s North American Champion Sol Ruca, TNA World Champion Trick Williams and more.

Heatwave has a 6:30 p.m. ET start time, which likely means the PLE will start at 7 p.m. ET. By the time it starts, Forbidden Door may be over.
