Top WWE Star Competes In First Match In Over 3 Months
A major star in WWE stepped back into the ring after a lengthy layoff.
It has been a year of mixed results for former WWE Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins, who started the year holding the World Heavyweight Title but Rollins has also spent plenty of time this year recovering from injuries.
After suffering a knee injury in January, Rollins was still able to make it to WrestleMania 40 in April, which saw him compete twice. Rollins teamed up with Cody Rhodes to lose to The Rock & Roman Reigns in the WrestleMania 40 Saturday main event. One day later on WrestleMania 40 Sunday, Rollins lost the World Title to Drew McIntyre.
During his current feud with Bronson Reed, Seth Rollins had a backstage discussion with WWE Raw GM Adam Pearce, who noted that Rollins only had six matches this year (televised) and he wasn’t healthy for any of them.
That number of matches mentioned by Pearce was accurate. The last match that Rollins had that was televised was at WWE Money in the Bank on July 3rd when he was in a triple threat match between World Champion Damian Priest and Drew McIntyre, which was won by Priest.
Following the WWE SmackDown broadcast and taping in Brooklyn, Seth Rollins returned to the ring in a dark match against Dominik Mysterio. Rollins won a short match by hitting a Pedigree followed by The Stomp for the clean win.
Seth Rollins Looking For Revenge At WWE Crown Jewel
Bronson Reed destroyed Seth Rollins on the August 5th edition of Raw, which led to Rollins missing about two months of television. After returning to Raw, Rollins made it clear he wanted to face Reed in a match and Reed wanted it to. Raw GM Adam Pearce finally agreed to it, so it will happen at WWE Crown Jewel.
