WWE Commentary Shake-Up Confirmed

Michael Cole WWE

Change is coming to WWE.

Back in July, it was announced that ESPN’s Joe Tessitore would be joining WWE later in 2024.

At the time of the announcement, Triple H talked up Tessitore’s ability to step up to the occasion.

“Whether it’s a world title fight that’s got the globe buzzing or a college football rivalry that’s grabbed the nation’s attention, Joe’s voice provides that big event feel each time he is behind the microphone.

“We’re excited for Joe to join legendary WWE broadcaster Michael Cole and our esteemed announce team, bringing his signature energy and meticulous preparation to our WWE telecasts each week.”

Joe Tessitore Joining WWE Raw

During the WWE SummerSlam pre-show, it was announced that Tessitore will start with WWE on the September 2nd episode of Raw from Denver, Colorado. This means that Michael Cole will head back to SmackDown when the blue brand returns to the USA Network.

Tessitore will be at the helm when Raw moves to Netflix in January 2025.

Meanwhile, it was revealed on August 2nd that Michael Cole has signed a new WWE deal to keep him with the company for the “foreseeable future.” Cole joined the sports entertainment giant back in 1997 as a backstage interviewer before moving to the announce desk.

Interestingly, Pat McAfee’s future appears much more uncertain after he announced he’s rejoining ESPN’s College GameDay. During McAfee’s last stint on the show in September 2022 he took a break from WWE, not returning on a regular basis until January 2024.
