WWE Let Cody Rhodes Break Major Rule On Raw

Cody Rhodes WWE Raw

The Rock has caused a stir with his recent promos ahead of WrestleMania and it seems Cody Rhodes was given permission to break WWE’s rules.

The Rock has caused frustration in recent weeks with his promos both on WWE TV and on social media. His social media promos have been laced with curse words while his TV segments have been laced with references to things that are decidedly not PG.

The frustration supposedly felt by others in the WWE locker room is a result of a memo from management expressly forbidding those sorts of things. However on Raw in Raleigh, North Carolina, Cody Rhodes fired back at The Rock with a promo that has been censored in several places on WWE’s YouTube. One of Rhodes’ most choice lines came when he accused The Rock of having “little dick syndrome.”

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed the directive sent to WWE stars telling them to mind their language with Meltzer noting that the memo was real but Rhodes had been given special dispensation to ensure he fired back appropriately at The Rock:

No, there was there was a memo, everyone got it. I asked, I go what was the deal? And it’s like, they knew that he [Rhodes] had to come back. But there’s absolutely a memo. I got that from several different guys, there’s been other reporters who have too. That’s not nothing, no one else is allowed to do that.

But he was given the opportunity to do it because basically, they wanted him to stay babyface, essentially. And I mean, if he came off badly on this promo and Rock came off so great in Memphis it’s like, that’s not what they want. But he was fine. You know, he’s, he brought his dog in. I mean, it’s like, that’s all it is.

Cody Rhodes will face The Rock at WrestleMania as part of a huge tag team match that sees Rhodes team with Seth Rollins while The Rock will partner up with his Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns.
