WWE Star References CM Punk’s Backstage Fighting History

CM Punk

A rising star in WWE made an interesting comment on social media about CM Punk’s history of backstage fighting.

During CM Punk’s tumultuous two-year run in All Elite Wrestling, he did become AEW World Champion and had memorable moments with big names in the company, but perhaps his two backstage fighting incidents are what people will remember most.

After winning the AEW World Title at the All Out 2022 PPV, CM Punk went on an infamous press conference rant complaining about many things in AEW. This led to Punk getting into a backstage fight with The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega, all of whom are Executive Vice Presidents in AEW. Everybody involved was suspended by AEW although, in Punk’s case, he missed about eight months with a torn triceps injury.

At AEW’s biggest show ever, All In 2023 at London’s Wembley Stadium, Punk got into a backstage argument with Jack Perry. That led to a confrontation that saw Punk attack Perry. The incident led to Punk getting fired by AEW one week later while AEW Owner Tony Khan claimed he was “in fear for his life” after the incident, which has been mocked by wrestling fans ever since.

That Punk-Perry incident was even shown on AEW television several months later as a way to build Perry’s return to the company after a long layoff. CM Punk said that showing the incident wasn’t going to help them (referring to AEW) or himself.

It has been a year since CM Punk returned to WWE with no hints of backstage incidents and he has been called a “positive light” in WWE as a locker room leader in the company.

Carmelo Hayes Jokes About Seeing CM Punk Backstage

On WWE Smackdown in Salt Lake City, CM Punk appeared at the end of the night to join Roman Reigns’ team in the Men’s WarGames match.

During that same episode, rising WWE star Carmelo Hayes got into a backstage argument with Cody Rhodes, which will lead to the two men facing off next week on Smackdown. On Twitter/X, Hayes made a joking comment about CM Punk’s backstage fight history.

Ran into Cm Punk. Just gave me the best advice to never lose a backstage fight again #SmackDown
