WWE Changes Royal Rumble Start Time; Will Be 4-Hour Show

TJR Wrestling

World Wrestling Entertainment has changed the start time of the Royal Rumble pay-per-view from 7:30 pm ET to 6:30 pm ET. Dave Meltzer noted this in his most recent edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Ticketmaster also changed the official start time on their website. It’s listed as 5:30 pm local time, which is 6:30 pm ET.

This means that the Royal Rumble will be a 4-hour pay-per-view. This change in length does not come as a big shocker. It was mostly expected that the Royal Rumble would be a 4-hour show once Survivor Series (November 20) was announced to be 4 hours long. With the Royal Rumble now being 4 hours long, this makes all of WWE’s “Big 4” pay-per-views the same length.

The Royal Rumble will be taking place on January 29, 2017 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas which will likely hold about 50,000 people.
