WWE Reportedly Changed Major PLE Plans Because Of AEW

WWE has two important shows upcoming during the weekend of July 12th and 13th, 2025.

On July 12th, 2025, Saturday Night’s Main Event is scheduled at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.

Evolution 2 is scheduled for the following night on July 13th, 2025, at the same venue as Saturday Night’s Main Event.

WWE was supposed to schedule Evolution 2 for another weekend

The first edition of Evolution in 2018 wasn’t selling enough tickets until the very last moment. While that was a success, Evolution 2 is on the same weekend as Saturday Night’s Main Event. Given SNME has become rather popular with the fandom, it doesn’t seem that Evolution 2 will witness enough crowd at the arena.

A fan had questioned why the global juggernaut did not book Evolution 2 for some other week, to which Dave Meltzer responded that it was supposed to be for July 5th, but WWE moved it to ensure competition for AEW All In Texas.

It was originally to be held last night. They changed it when they got out of control trying to run three big shows next weekend because of All In. They wanted competition in case AEW moved to Sunday.

The want to be competitive with AEW’s All In Texas, WWE might misread Evolution 2’s low turnout and not continue with the premium live event in the future. Had the show gotten its own weekend, it’s highly likely it would have been a sellout!
