A former WWE champion has looked back on a WrestleMania moment that could have turned into a disaster.

While he was advertised as the host of WrestleMania 39, The Miz ended up participating in two matches at the event. On night one, Pat McAfee answered The Miz’s open challenge and soon put the former WrestleMania main eventer away with some help from NFL star George Kittle.

On night two, Miz attempted to make up for the humiliation with another open challenge. This time, Shane McMahon came out to take him on. However, McMahon promptly tore his quads, stopping the match.

At that point, Miz’s co-host Snoop Dogg stepped in and took on star himself, beating him with a People’s Elbow to the astonishment of fans around the world. Looking back on the incident during an interview with Alistair McGeorge of Metro.co.uk, Miz praised Snoop for his unexpected involvement.

“That definitely wasn’t supposed to happen, but it does happen. Those are moments that you don’t want to happen, but are also moments that you literally are like, ‘Okay, this is what I’ve been prepared for.’

“The number one thing that was talked about was Snoop Dogg giving me a People’s Elbow, rather than, ‘Oh man, something happened at WrestleMania.’

“This is the biggest event we have, and those type of situations do happen, and it is our job to make sure that you don’t realise it’s happening. He was seamless. He was so good in that moment.”

The Miz Comments On WrestleMania 41 Absence

During the same interview, The Miz admitted it isn’t easy to be left off the WrestleMania 41 card. However, he is confident he can still compete at the top level and is working to get himself a slot at the Showcase of the Immortals.
