2-Time WWE Champion Will Return Under One Condition
The husband-wife duo of CM Punk and AJ Lee wrestled at WWE’s inaugural Wrestlepalooza event on September 20. They fought another couple: the reigning World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins, and his wife, the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion, Becky Lynch, in a mixed tag team match and gained victory.
There are more iconic couples in WWE, and one of them is The Miz and Maryse, who have blended their real-life marriage with compelling on-screen chemistry. Their most famous moments together include the satirical “Total Bellas” segments mocking then-couple John Cena and Nikki Bella before WrestleMania 33. Their rivalry with Cena and Bella culminated in a high-profile mixed tag match at the Mania that year.
Maryse Might Return to WWE in the Future
Speaking of which, The Miz recently talked about his WrestleMania 33 match being a very special moment in his WWE career during an interview with Adrian Hernandez of Unlikely. While he was discussing the topic, he also teased that his wife might return to the ring one day under the right circumstances.
“If the right opportunity presents itself [Maryse will return].”
“I loved walking down the ramp with my wife as a tag team. It’s really cool, especially watching Seth and Becky, and AJ and CM Punk. It’s so cool and not many people get to actually do what Maryse and I got to do, which is walk down the aisle in our wedding and in our career at the biggest stage of all, WrestleMania. That was a really cool moment.”
Maryse began her WWE career after being a finalist in the 2006 Diva Search competition. She quickly rose to become the first two-time Divas Champion, with her reign of 216 days standing as one of the longest in the title’s history.
After leaving WWE in 2011, Maryse made a full-time return in 2016, aligning with Miz and playing a crucial role in his Intercontinental Championship storylines. Her last match occurred at Royal Rumble 2022, where she teamed with The Miz against Edge and Beth Phoenix in a high-profile mixed tag team match.
