Ex-WWE Champion Not Medically Cleared After Surgery

Bobby Lashley WWE Goldberg

A former WWE Champion isn’t cleared to compete after undergoing surgery.

It has been reported in recent days that Bobby Lashley’s WWE contract is set to expire in early August. While Lashley has had a lot of success in WWE over the last six years, it is expected that he will depart the company and could find a home in All Elite Wrestling soon.

The 48-year-old Lashley has been out of action since he beat Santos Escobar at a WWE live event in France on May 5th. In the weeks that followed, WWE claimed there was some injury keeping Lashley out of action.

While speaking to The Laboratory podcast, Bobby Lashley revealed that he had surgery recently although he didn’t say what the surgery was.

“I had surgery. A little boo boo, happened in France during a match. Just a freak accident. They told me I wasn’t supposed to be back for six months. Six weeks, I have the brace off, working out.”

“My physical therapist was like, ‘You’re not supposed to be able to do that.’ ‘I’m different.’ I’m working out and lifting. I don’t think I’m two months out of surgery now and I’m hitting it pretty hard. I think I’ll be ready and cleared in less than a month. At that time, we’ll see what happens.”

Bobby Lashley Enjoyed Working In WWE With Vince McMahon More Than Triple H

There are many people who think the WWE product is better right now with Triple H calling the shots instead of Vince McMahon. However, Bobby Lashley enjoyed a lot of success with Vince in charge since Lashley was a two-time WWE Champion when Vince was running the show.

“If I say the wrong thing right now….I had a connection with Vince. Vince understood me. Vince was big on the show. He looked at people that were stars. He saw that in me. There were a lot of little nuggets that Vince would give me throughout my career and tell me different things.”

“Vince looked at me like, ‘I can tell Bobby works his ass off. I can send him anywhere around the country to represent the brand.’ He looked at me like a star. I like Vince. I haven’t really had too much of a connection with Hunter. Hunter has his guys. I’ve tried to, but we haven’t really worked enough together to get to know each other.”

As mentioned above, Lashley is set to leave WWE and it’s expected that his good friend MVP will be joining him as well.
