Why WWE Champion Is Desperate To Wrestle At Survivor Series
A WWE star can’t wait for Survivor Series.
On November 29, WWE will head to Petco Park in San Diego for Survivor Series. The stadium is the home of the MLB franchise, the San Diego Padres.
This means that 2025 will mark the first time Survivor Series will be held at an outdoor venue, and the first time at a Major League Baseball stadium.
As well as being John Cena’s last Survivor Series, the event will also have a special meaning for Dominik Mysterio, who grew up in the host city.
In a new appearance on the Rap On Wrestling podcast, Mysterio was asked about WWE’s return to San Diego.
“Man. I’m just excited to be home in San Diego. It’s the first show ever at Petco Park that WWE is coming to. So it’s like, for me growing up, going to the Padres games, going to see my dad wrestle over at, Pechanga Arena now. It used to be the San Diego Sports Arena. So, like, it’s just special, man, and I hope I get to be a part of that card at Survivor Series.”
Dominik Mysterio Wants Traditional WWE Survivor Series Match
Mysterio was then asked about the kind of match he’d like to be involved in when the event rolls around.
He said that while the prospect of defending the Intercontinental Title sounds like a good one, he’d like to be part of a traditional five-on-five elimination match. Not that he cares who it’s against.
“I think if I still have the title, I’d love to walk into Survivor Series as champion, defending my title against anybody. Anybody could get it. But I think it would be, I was a part of Survivor Series War Games two years ago with the Judgment Day.
So I think being part of like a traditional Survivor Series (tag), SmackDown versus Raw versus NXT, hell, even versus AAA. I think that’d be really cool. Just making it like all of us in there, like a big debacle of people just, you know, just going crazy. I think that’d be really cool.”
During the same interview, Dominik Mysterio challenged John Cena to step up and take his title. Despite his long and glittering career, Cena has never held the Intercontinental Championship, and time is running out before he retires in December.
Meanwhile, it’s been announced that Dominik Mysterio will be back in action on the September 1 edition of Monday Night Raw. On the show, he’ll defend the Intercontinental Championship against long-time rival AJ Styles.
