Why WWE Has To Be Careful With AJ Lee’s In-Ring Return

AJ Lee has secured a spot at Wrestlepalooza in a Mixed Tag Team Match.

As many had predicted, Lee is teaming up with CM Punk to take on Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch. The minute The Man got involved at Clash in Paris and cost Punk the victory, the WWE Universe knew why she was written into it.

Now, while AJ Lee has a huge fanbase along with CM Punk’s, she has still been away from the ring for a while. Ideally, returning superstars are booked in tag team matches owing to ring rust.

WWE has ensured to be careful with AJ Lee’s return

Currently, Punk, Rollins, and Lynch are active superstars. AJ Lee just returned and immediately secured a spot at a premium live event.

While she must have had time to practise and prepare herself for the ring, it still doesn’t mean she is as prepared as the other three superstars.

On Busted Open Podcast, Bully Ray explained why WWE needs to be careful with the former WWE Divas Champion’s return.

I asked Natty about this last week um during her segment on Thursday, and she thinks that AJ Lee will be absolutely ready to go, getting that ring all fired up and ready. Uh, I understand where she’s coming from. I do, I still do think that they’re going to have to be very careful about how they put the match together, just so they can feature her. And that’s just smart wrestling.

If you know you have somebody that’s been away for 10 years, or you know that you have somebody who’s just coming back from an injury, or you have somebody that’s just not as strong as an in-ring wrestler performer as the other three. This is called working together.

Apart from the match at Wrestlepalooza, it’s also likely that WWE is setting up a singles rivalry between Lee and Lynch for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship.
