Ex-WWE Champion’s Career Officially Over At 32

32-year-old WWE star Sonya Deville has officially hung up her wrestling boots.

Deville’s last WWE match went down at Main Event in February 2025, where she suffered a loss against Natalya in a singles match. This marked her final in-ring appearance before her release. Not long after, in mid-February 2025, she was let go once the company decided not to renew her contract. The main reason given was that creative plans for her had not worked out.

That being said, months after her release, Fightful Select has revealed that she’s “effectively retired” but also has dropped the classic “never say never” line, hinting she won’t wrestle anywhere else for now. Deville is moving forward, and she seems pretty happy charting a new course outside the squared circle.

Sonya Deville’s WWE Career Highlight

Deville kicked off her WWE adventure as a contestant on Tough Enough back in 2015, instantly catching eyes with her badass MMA background and all-around fighter vibe. She grew her skills in NXT and debuted on the main roster as part of “Absolution” with Paige and Mandy Rose in late 2017.

Deville and Mandy Rose, as “Fire and Desire,” built a legacy as one of the top women’s tag teams on SmackDown. She was all about fighting spirit and took part in major events, like the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble and the historic Elimination Chamber match, which totally solidified her reputation as a legit force.

But Deville’s journey wasn’t just about throwing punches. After a “Loser Leaves WWE” showdown with Mandy Rose at SummerSlam 2020 left her off TV for a bit, she made a wild comeback, not as a wrestler, but as an on-screen official with Adam Pearce. She eventually ditched the suit and got back in the ring in 2022, bagging her first WWE title with Chelsea Green as Women’s Tag Team Champion in 2023. Sadly, an ACL injury cut that reign short, but she never truly lost that belt in the ring.
