WWE Allegedly Brought Back Ron Killings For One Major Reason

Ron Killings, R-Truth

Ron Killings’ return at Money in the Bank PLE was a shock.

For days, wrestling fans had banded together, voicing their opinions about the latest releases and calling for R-Truth’s reinstatement.

The release of Killings on June 1 gained massive traction, which ultimately led to fans criticizing WWE COO Triple H and TKO for their mismanagement of talent.

The 53-year-old had recently fought John Cena at Saturday Night’s Main Event, and to release him after such a high-profile clash was unacceptable.

While Killings’ return is welcome news, the plans for his character remain a mystery.

Why Was Ron Killings Brought Back So Fast?

Former WWE creative writer Vince Russo discussed Ron Killings’ return on his Vince Russo The Brand podcast with Stevie Richards and Bin Hamin.

Obviously, bro, the only reason why they took him (Killings) back was because they felt it was bad publicity. This was not part of the…Please Triple H, seriously, this was not part of the show. [From 7:57]

Russo also explicitly detailed his issue with Ron Killings’ release and return.

He reminded the members of the panel how Truth had just had his match with Cena, and after returning, he cut his own hair. He questioned why WWE did not put the heat on Cena by having him cut Truth’s hair at SNME.

Russo then spoke about how Killings’ promo on Raw would have been lost on casual viewers, who were in the building just for an evening and not necessarily fans of the show.

He suggested a plot that would have made the WWE star’s return even more memorable, wherein he cut a shoot promo accusing the company of releasing him due to his age.

Russo likened Ron Killings’ situation to that of Karrion Kross, who WWE has refused to push despite his popularity among fans.
