Forgotten WWE Broadcaster Confirms Show Is Cancelled

A WWE show has quietly gone off the air to start the new year.

It was the start of a new era for WWE SmackDown in Phoenix because it was the first three-hour show for the blue brand. For the previous 25 years, SmackDown was a two-hour show, but USA Network made the change to make it three hours and that’s what it will be moving forward.

There has also been a show cancellation because from October 2020 until last week’s December 27th episode of SmackDown, a show called “SmackDown Lowdown” aired on Peacock on WWE Network.

SmackDown Lowdown was a 30-minute show that was usually hosted by Scott Stanford and Megan Morant. It featured a recap of the key moments of the show along with exclusive interviews featuring WWE superstars reacting to what happened on that week’s broadcast.

After WWE SmackDown in Phoenix, some fans likely wanted to watch even more content on SmackDown Lowdown, but they realized it wasn’t on the air.

In a response to a fan on X, Scott Stanford responded when asked if SmackDown Lowdown would air this week.

“It is not! all wrapped up”

Stanford has worked for WWE since 2009, mostly as a studio host. He is a radio and television host in the New York area.

That means the company has pulled the plug on the SmackDown Lowdown show without any sort of announcement.

In 2016, WWE had a post-SmackDown show called Talking Smack hosted by Renee Paquette and Daniel Bryan that was beloved by a lot of fans, but it was canceled within two years.

WWE Airing Raw Post Show After Netflix Debut Episode

Following the highly-anticipated Monday Night Raw debut on Netflix on January 6th in Los Angeles, there will be a post-show that will air on the company’s YouTube channel along with other social media accounts.

The hosts of the Raw post-show will be former commentary team Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett, along with former WWE Champion Big E, who has done plenty of announcing work in the last couple of years.

It was announced during SmackDown that there will be a press conference after Raw as well, so it will be similar to Premium Live Event broadcasts in that way. This also likely means that Raw Talk will be going away like SmackDown Lowdown.

What isn’t known is if the Raw post show will be a regular thing or if it’s just happening because it’s the Netflix debut. It has yet to be addressed by WWE.
