There might be a former WWE development talent coming back to the company, or he could sign somewhere else.

EJ Nduka’s run in Major League Wrestling is finished. Nduka’s contract with MLW reportedly expired on January 1st according to Fightful Select and he’s now a free agent.

The team of EJ Nduka and Calvin Tankman were the MLW Tag Team Champions, but they lost the titles to Juicy Finau & Lance Anoa’i at a Saturday night taping in Philadelphia. The report from Fightful noted that Nduka’s deal was up on January 1st, but he wanted to drop the titles the right way, so that’s what happened.

Here’s some more info about EJ Nduka from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter by Dave Meltzer this week.

“EJ Nduka, who has gotten rave reviews from management here, has his contract coming due imminently and there is interest in him from multiple promotions including WWE having expressed some interest in bringing him back. Nduka, 34, is a 6-foot-5 high level bodybuilder and former college footballer who bounced around Canadian Football, Arena Football and some NFL camps until signing with WWE in 2018 and becoming Ezra Judge.”

“He’s a guy who hasn’t worked a ton of indies, but has worked Mexico and been pushed in MLW where he currently holds the tag team titles with Calvin Tankman. WWE cut him in May 2021 which was when they were cutting guys probably in his case based on his not making television and already being older when the idea was they wanted younger guys in NXT. The name has come up in AEW as well as Japan.”

When EJ Nduka was released by WWE in May 2021, it was when the company’s creative direction was run by Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis. Now that it is up to Paul “Triple H” Levesque and NXT’s Shawn Michaels, perhaps they want to bring EJ back to WWE especially now that they have seen what he can do in MLW.

As the report above noted, there are other companies interested in EJ as well.
